The opening of school is always a lively time of year.  Lots of forms to fill out, lots of supplies to buy, lots of people to meet.  It can be exciting and confusing and tedious all at the same time.  Despite all the commotion, I am happy to report that the beginning of school seems to have had a successful launch.
Over 80 upperclassmen volunteered to assist with Freshman Orientation Day on August 15th and approximately 250 incoming freshmen attended.  On the official first day for freshmen, August 28th, we again has 33 student volunteers assisting the freshmen and welcoming transfer students to the school. Our freshmen, Class of 2022, had the building to themselves and were able to go through a shortened version of both their Panther and Pride days.
All upperclassmen joined us on August 29th.  Our seniors, Class of 2019, were measured for their caps and gowns.  Graduation day seems a long way away, but it will arrive sooner than they think.
The first professional day for teachers on September 4th provided staff with information about school safety and security, special education and English learner programs.  BHS teachers also worked on reflecting on the resources, curriculum and programs we offer here at the high school and how we can further improve as a school.
We were glad to see so many parents and guardians join us for our Open House on September 5th.
Just a few things to keep in mind as our school year continues..
If you haven't done so, please sign up for the Aspen Family Portal.  Important information such as progress reports and report cards will be available through the portal.
Beverly High School begins its accreditation process with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  This two year process will require the school to develop a growth plan for the future of our school.  We will be seeking input from parents and community members as the process proceeds.
